Position: Title   Machinist 1 - Externship

Job Overview

Machinist 1 – Externship (Part‑Time).

Location:

Yakima, WA. Business Unit:
Systems and Support. Function:
Operations. This part‑time externship provides hands‑on training in machining and shop safety under the guidance of Triumph’s experienced machinists. It is offered in partnership with JM Perry Technical Institute.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities
  • Assist machinists with setup, operation, and basic maintenance of machining equipment
  • Support production tasks including part handling, measurement, and documentation
  • Learn and apply shop safety procedures and best practices
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and basic measurement requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Enrollment in (or completion of) the Precision Machining Certification Program at JM Perry Technical Institute
  • Strong interest in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical trades
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment

Preferred knowledge and skills:

  • Applied math calculations (measurements, conversions, tolerances)
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools
  • Basic understanding of machining processes or mechanical systems
  • Ability to read simple part drawings or blueprints
Compensation

USD 21.00 / Hour.
