The Director of Development provides strategic leadership for all fundraising, donor engagement, and development activities for Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington, including Catholic Charities Housing Services. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive fundraising initiatives that support the agency's mission and long-term sustainability through annual giving, major gifts, grants, planned giving, corporate partnerships, events, and donor stewardship.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement annual and long-range fundraising plans and budgets.
- Establish fundraising goals and performance measures aligned with organizational priorities.
- Lead annual giving campaigns, major gifts, planned giving programs, capital campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and parish donors.
- Work closely with the President & CEO, Vice President of Mission Advancement, Executive Team, and Board of Trustees to advance fundraising efforts.
- Oversee grant research, proposal development, submission, and reporting.
- Coordinate fundraising appeals, sponsorship opportunities, and foundation outreach.
- Develop relationships with community organizations, foundations, corporations, and community leaders to secure philanthropic support.
- Supervise and mentor development staff, including the Grants and Sponsorship Specialist and Advancement Administrative Coordinator.
- Support Development Committee and Board fundraising activities.
- Collaborate with program staff, PREPARES, Volunteer Services, and other departments to achieve fundraising goals.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the Diocese and community.
- Build and strengthen relationships with donors, clergy, parishes, volunteers, and community partners.
- Ensure timely donor acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship.
- Direct fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
- Collaborate on development-related communications, marketing, and public relations efforts.
- Utilize digital and traditional communication tools to increase donor engagement and awareness.
- Manage donor records and fundraising databases.
- Monitor fundraising performance and donor trends through CRM and reporting systems.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Ensure compliance with gift acceptance policies, donor intent, and reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position normally requires the physical demands of sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.
Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Development, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. - Experience:
Five or more years of progressively responsible fundraising, development, advancement, sales, or marketing experience;
Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing donor relationship;
Experience in non profit, faith-based, healthcare, education, or social service organizations preferred;
Supervisory experience preferred. - Special

Strong understanding of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and relationship management;
Exceptional communication, networking, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
Ability to articulate and promote the mission and values of Catholic Charities;
Experience with fundraising databases and CRM systems;
Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills;
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, volunteers, clergy, donors, and community stakeholders;
Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. - Licensure, Registration, or Certification: CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive), preferred;
