Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-volume Emergency Department night shift position requiring three years of high acuity ED experience and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in a busy Emergency Department at a Level III trauma center
- Cares for patients from neonate to geriatric, including pediatric trauma and medical cases
- Patient ratios range from 1:3-5 based on acuity
- ER is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track area
- EMR system is Epic and experience is strongly preferred
- Scheduled for 12-hour night shifts
- Weekend rotation is every other weekend with flexibility required
- No floating or on-call responsibilities
- Scrub color is any, without logos
- Responsibilities include stabilization and transfer of neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high acuity pediatric patients
- Duties involve administration of TNK for stroke and supporting cardiac cases including cath lab patients
- Will work with behavioral health and substance use disorder patients
- Must adhere to unit’s patient safety and care protocols
- References from a supervisor or above are required for consideration
- Rare possibility of working back-to-back weekends for rotation coverage
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Three years of experience in a large volume, high acuity Emergency Department required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
- Triage experience required and must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being allowed to triage
- Experience with barcode scanning med administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, and setting up chest tubes and arterial lines required
- Ability to assist with trauma and code cases, splinting, BiPAP and ventilator management required
- Good understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI) is required
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred
- Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
- Epic experience is strongly preferred
- First time travelers are not considered
