Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a high-volume Level III trauma center in Washington State, requiring a minimum of 3 years of large-volume ED experience and a comprehensive certification package including TNCC.
Responsibilities- Work in the Emergency Department of a 226-bed, Level III non-profit community hospital with 34 ED beds seeing 200–250 patients per day — the busiest ED in the state
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including Level III trauma, pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, and substance use disorder
- Stabilization and transfer responsibilities for high-acuity patients including neurosurgery cases, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients
- Patient ratios are 1:3–5 based on acuity; ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
- EMR:
Epic (strongly preferred) - Shift options include days (7a–7p, 9a–9p), mids (10a–10p through 2p–2a), evenings (3p–3a), and nights (7p–7a) on 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends are possible but rare — flexibility is expected
- No floating or on-call requirements
- Point of Care Lab experience is a plus
- Candidates must complete Simpli Fi clinical interviewing and unit review as part of the hiring process
- Scrubs may be any color; logos are not permitted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand (pending license with proof of application accepted)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
- Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being permitted to triage independently
- Proficiency in barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
- Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, perform splinting, and manage BiPAP/ventilators
- Strong understanding of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI)
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
- Two supervisor-level references required (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above); one reference accepted at time of consideration with a second required prior to start
