Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 15-week contract to provide holiday coverage. This role involves working in a high-volume Emergency Department (ED) with a diverse patient population, ranging from neonates to geriatrics, including pediatric medical and trauma cases.
Responsibilities
- Perform triage and manage patient flow based on acuity.
- Administer medications with barcode scanning and manage medication drips.
- Conduct blood product administration and assist with trauma and code cases.
- Set up chest tubes and arterial lines when required.
- Provide splinting and ventilator support (BiPAP/ventilation).
- Stabilize patients for transfer as necessary, including neurosurgery and multi-system trauma cases.
- Maintain a clear understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and protocols for stroke and cardiac patients.
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-acuity, large-volume Emergency Department.
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC.
- Proven triage experience; must pass the hospital's triage test before being allowed to triage patients.
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Point of Care Labs is a plus.
Shift Details
Shifts available include days, mids, and nights with varying start times. Expect a weekend rotation every other weekend, with the potential for back-to-back weekends.
Patient Demographics and Ratios
The ED operates with a patient ratio of 1:3-5, depending on acuity. The department sees an average of 200-250 patients daily and includes capabilities for both medical and trauma pediatrics.
Location
Located in a vibrant community setting in City, State, this facility is a Level III trauma center and the busiest ED in the state.
