Overview

Ulta Beauty Operations Manager (OM) leads store operations, driving sales growth, inventory accuracy, and team performance while upholding the company's mission, vision, and values.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities Performance
  • Promote a culture of accountability to meet store sales, service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and shrink goals.
  • Drive profitability through operational excellence, sales growth, and expense control.
  • Support scheduling and payroll budgets, communicating needs to the General Manager to maximize productivity and achieve financial targets.
  • Review financial and operational reports regularly and act on findings.
  • Leverage company programs and tools to meet store goals.
  • Perform makeup, skincare, and product demonstrations to enhance guest experience and sales.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services during work time.
  • Maintain punctual attendance and hold associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
People
  • Recruit, hire, and retain a diverse, high‑performing team and address staffing needs.
  • Build an engaged, brand‑aligned team through collaboration, communication, and prioritization.
  • Create an inclusive environment that encourages associate growth.
  • Support manager and associate development through training, coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, and development plans.
  • Ensure direct reports participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
  • Establish vendor partnerships to meet shipment and planogram expectations.
  • Model operational excellence by leading priorities, providing direction, and sharing best practices.
  • Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to achieve Annual Performance Goals & metrics.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Enforce the company dress code.
  • Execute operational tasks: ad set processes, visual sets, planograms, realignments, and inventory lifecycle activities (cycle counts, damages, testers, inventory adjustments, RTVs, DIFs).
  • Use scheduling and task management tools to adjust schedules, manage attendance, and prioritize store workload.
  • Manage service, boutique, and store supply inventory and ordering within budget.
  • Protect assets by enforcing safety, cash management, and loss prevention protocols.
  • Conduct day‑to‑day inventory control operations and report theft as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives, technology, and communicating expectations.
  • Communicate business trends, opportunities, operational challenges, and competitive insights to field leadership.
Job Qualifications Education
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree.
Experience
  • 2‑3+ years in fast‑paced retail or related management role.
  • Financial management experience driving top‑line sales, interpreting reports, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses.
  • Retail management experience monitoring inventory, achieving operational excellence, driving a service culture, and executing merchandising directives.
  • Leadership experience attracting, developing, and motivating talent, adapting to change, building relationships, and influencing teams.
Skills
  • Proficiency with basic technology (POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and use good judgment in ambiguous situations.
Special

Position Requirements
  • Work a full‑time, flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability to work Sunday and Monday shifts.
  • Attend corporate business meetings and conferences as required.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous mobility throughout the store, including twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, and reaching.
  • Continuous lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.; continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
  • Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office supplies.
Compensation & Benefits
