Position Summary
Very Part‑time Chaplain work in Mt Vernon, Washington – likely 1‑3 hrs/week. Chaplains are frontline staff fulfilling the mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP and serve company employees and their immediate families.
Responsibilities- Serves as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
- Interacts with companies, their employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
- Ministry:
Makes brief visits to company worksites regularly (usually weekly) to interact with employees, building trust and friendship. - Visits employees or their families at hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, or other sites to provide care.
- Provides confidential pastoral discussions on issues such as family matters, divorce, serious illness, care of aging parents, grief, parenting, financial situations, and other personal concerns.
- Provides referral service and coordinates specialized assistance for employees and families.
- Assists in planning, conducting, or attending funerals; provides follow‑up support to grieving families.
- Makes jail visits to employees and families when required.
- Works with companies to notify families and employees of deaths or serious injuries, offering support to those impacted by tragedies.
- Provides post‑termination care for laid‑off or terminated employees to facilitate transition to new employment.
- Facilitates spiritual enrichment activities, typically employee‑sponsored.
- Provides literature and resources to aid employees with life issues.
- Represents companies to clients/customers when ministry services are appropriate (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, funerals).
- Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
- With permission from the Executive Director of Operations, responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership within the scope of the Letter of Agreement.

- Must pass a pre‑employment background check.
This is a field position; the work environment depends on client worksite and can include manufacturing, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes with varying temperature, noise, and light exposure.
