Salary: $4,517.00 – $5,241.00 Monthly

• Work with wildfire division aviation staff, providing recommendations for equipment replacement, planning training events, and maintaining effective communication to ensure clear expectations and coordination for successful deployment.
• Engage with Helitack and Aviation Maintenance staff to ensure clear expectations, capabilities, and coordination for aviation use throughout the state.
• Maintain a direct line of communication with interagency partners and other entities to foster successful current and future relationships.
• Must interact with others in and outside the agency to accomplish the assigned duties.
• Maintain & enhance our good working relationships with our federal and fire district cooperators. Maintain dialogue for planning, suppression, and risk management purposes with USFS and vendors. This position may interact with the fire investigation program to assist with cost recoveries for fires that could result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in recoveries.

• Experience with basic-level computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Publisher.
• Experience in the development and maintenance of mapping and navigation equipment (i.e., iPad, Google Maps, GPS, Avanza).
• Experience driving large trucks.
• Experience applying personnel management principles and merit system rules, and employee union agreements.
• Experience evaluating others’ abilities and assessing training needs.
• Knowledge of the WA DNR Aviation program.
• Ability to develop and follow processes.

• Five years of professional-level experience managing or leading an emergency response/aviation group or program using the National Incident Management System (NIMS) or Incident Command System (ICS).
• Experience with aviation FAA fueling operations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in aircraft operations.
