The Title I Interventionist is to provide small group instruction to students identified through the district screening process as needing value-added instruction to close gaps, while monitoring and improving student achievement to ensure that all students meet grade level proficiency benchmarks. The interventionist plans high quality lessons using on-going data collection to drive instructional decisions. The interventionist meets with teachers, interprets student progress, and informs parents/guardians about student strengths, weaknesses, and progress.
Criteria- Valid South Dakota Teaching Certificate
- Prefer 3+ years of classroom experience
- Deep knowledge of the development of literacy and mathematics concepts and skills
- Understanding of South Dakota Standards
- Interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration) to share research based instructional approaches with teachers and administrators providing advice, mentoring and coaching to colleagues.
- Strong organizational and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of current technology to facilitate learning
- Demonstrates exemplary instructional practices in literacy and mathematics and possesses a deep understanding of the science or reading and mathematics theory for the purpose of providing effective best practices to improve student achievement
- Provides high quality literacy and mathematics instruction to students groups
- Regularly analyzes data and monitors student progress while delivering focused intervention to students
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress - Provides input for program development
- Perform other duties as assigned.
