• Evaluate and teach in the early childhood special education program.
• Collaborate with regular education teachers to provide integrated programs.
• Work closely with speech, occupational, physical therapists, and other specialists to address various aspects of a child’s development.
• Attend and lead meetings and participate in a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, progress reports, and communications with parents.
• Ensure compliance with relevant state regulations and reporting requirements.

• A. Applicants must have a valid South Dakota teaching certificate and be eligible for or hold the Professional Preparation #221 Birth-Age 8 Special Education endorsement.
• B. Preferences may be given to applicants with:
• A master’s degree in special education with course work in early childhood education.
• Dual degrees in elementary and special education.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Experience with:
  • Science of Reading teaching techniques
  • Providing specialized instruction to meet individual needs
  • Modifying and adapting teaching strategies for diverse learning styles
  • IEP implementation with augmentative communication devices
  • Working knowledge of computer technology
  • Conducting assessments to identify developmental delays and disabilities in young children
  • Collaborating with professionals to gather comprehensive information about a child’s abilities and challenges
  • Working with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other specialists
  • Attending and leading meetings as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintaining records of assessments, progress notes, and parent communications
  • Ensuring compliance with state regulations and reporting requirements

Good physical health, including the ability to lift 30 pounds. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, pushing, and stooping. Occasional climbing, crawling, and reaching.
