Position Overview
Product/Process Engineer – Yankton, SD. Full‑time. Responsible for engineering of products from design inception to finished product, including manufacturing process and controls under general direction of the Engineering Section Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Controls and has design, testing, and engineering production responsibility for one or several routine to moderately complex projects.
- Fabricates or directs technicians in fabrication of prototype models, redesigns components as needed, supplies draft department with final sketches, and maintains documentation.
- Recommends improvements to production equipment; designs test equipment jigs, fixtures, tools; handles line check‑out of new equipment; consults on troubleshooting and cost savings activities.
- Examines production methods, materials, and facilities to improve product; initiates actions with vendors and internal departments; investigates problems and implements solutions.
- Works with customers on product design, specifications, materials, and manufacturing capabilities; may re‑evaluate and redesign products for advanced specifications.
- May travel to discuss customer problems or investigate field issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
- Three to five years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- High mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design and process ideas into usable specifications.
- Independent project management or team leadership skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
