Job LocationThis position is located on‑site in Yankton, SD, on the banks of the Missouri River, minutes from Lewis and Clark Lake.
Responsibilities- Designing, testing, and engineering production for one or several routine to moderately complex projects.
- Fabricating or directing technicians in the fabrication of prototype models for test purposes; redesigning components as needed to meet performance specifications and providing final sketches to the drafting department.
- Maintaining documentation for product history and production.
- Recommending improvements, modifications, and new designs of production equipment; designing simple to moderately complex test equipment jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Handling line check‑out of new equipment and consulting on troubleshooting prototype or production equipment.
- Investigating production and process problems and initiating solutions with vendors and internal departments.
- Working regularly with customers regarding product design, specifications, materials, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Re‑evaluating and redesigning specific products beyond customer or military specification requirements when required.
- Traveling to discuss customer problems or investigate product‑related issues in the field as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
- Three to five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- High mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design and process ideas into usable specifications.
- Ability to work independently on complex projects.
- Effective teamwork and project leadership skills.
- Strong customer‑service orientation.
