Physical RequirementsFrequent walking, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, and turning. Some lifting required.
Other RequirementsExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet. Ability to keep student information confidential.
Essential Functions and Duties- Provide physical care to students
- Assessment of fevers, colds, stomach aches, and other ailments
- Administer first aid and wound care to injured students
- Assess illnesses and injuries and contact parents or emergency services if they are severe
- Monitor and dispense students' medications
- Supervision of medication aides and administration of medications

Health promotion and disease prevention activities which address wellness across the lifespan.
With the philosophy that "healthy children learn better", YSD school nurses address the physical, mental, emotional and social health needs of the YSD students on a daily basis and work with parents and community partners to best serve these needs.
Monitor and update AEDs throughout the school district in coordination with building and district administration.
