Job Overview

Position:
Maintenance Technician – Plumbing, Heating & Cooling (Full Time)

Location:

Yankton, SD. Salary: $28.00 – $31.00 hourly, Pay Grade I. Open until filled.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair fixture installation, irrigation, waste, heating and cooling systems, pools, whirlpool tubs, and food service appliances.
  • Prioritize work orders to meet hospital operational needs with minimal disruption.
  • Estimate material costs and quantities for repair and remodel projects to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary materials including fittings, pipes, replacement fixtures, sprinkler heads, steam traps, sensors, and gages.
  • Troubleshoot deficiencies within complex, upgraded, replaced, or discontinued systems using existing blueprints.
  • Provide oversight of contracted construction projects to ensure compliance with codes and proper post-construction maintenance.
  • Provide a professional and caring environment so patients can utilize amenities at all times.
Licenses and Certifications

None required. Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess a Journeyman, Contractor, or any specialty license.

Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in the plumbing trade, both new construction and remodeling.
Knowledge
  • Computers and related software programs.
  • Blueprints and schematic design.
  • Water softeners and hydronic boilers.
  • Water heaters.
  • Various water systems.
Skills
  • Read blueprints and troubleshoot issues within a plumbing system.
  • Work independently and as a team.
  • Complete scheduled inspections.
  • Assist other trades as needed.
Abilities
  • Coordinate with outside parties for scheduling purposes.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems on campus.
  • Work with vendors for ordering and scheduling of services.
  • Collaborate with other trades within the Physical Plant to provide services for the hospital.
Additional Requirements

  • Position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
  • Successful applicants will undergo a background investigation and an abuse and neglect screening.
  • Submission of a National Career Readiness Certificate is optional.
