Accounting Specialist

Latham Centers is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Specialist to support financial operations for our affiliated organizations, including adult group homes financed through HUD and day support programs provided by Transitions Centers, Inc. This position plays a key role in maintaining independent affiliate financial systems while ensuring accurate consolidation and integration with Latham Centers’ overall financial reporting.

Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:00 pm
Location: Yarmouth Port, MA
Compensation: $25.00‑$27.50 per hour based on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary liaison with HUD, coordinating reporting requirements, project approvals, and client recertifications
  • Work with HUD, program staff, clients, and guardians to complete required reporting
  • Process and coordinate accounts payable, including invoice review, payment scheduling, and vendor follow‑up
  • Post and reconcile accounts payable and prepaid expenses in accounting software
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries, inter‑company accounts, and financial records
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly and resolve discrepancies in payments, invoices, and balances
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and budget‑to‑actual reports, including variance analysis
  • Reconcile student and adult services client accounts to the general ledger and program reports
  • Assist with budget preparation and annual audits
  • Provide support to Business Office staff and perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or Certificate in Accounting strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline preferred
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience required
  • Experience supporting organizations with independent subsidiaries preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, accounting software, and payroll systems
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
  • Valid driver’s license
