Monday through Friday, 6.5 hours per day plus a half hour unpaid lunch.

SummarySupports students—including those with low-incidence disabilities, autism, social-emotional needs, and behavioral concerns—by performing a variety of instructional tasks alongside teaching staff in kindergarten, related arts, recess, and cafeteria settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Discuss assigned teaching centers with classroom teacher to coordinate instruction efforts.
- Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching materials.
- Present content to students using a variety of methods and techniques.
- Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
- Participate in training.
- Provide direct instructional support to students with and without disabilities.
- Implement and/or adapt modifications and accommodations to the environment or curricular materials as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Collect data regarding students' performance as directed by licensed staff.
- Support the behavioral/social-emotional needs of children by utilizing pro‑active, pro‑social problem‑solving skills.
- Assist in the support of special education students with equipment (e.g., assistive technology).
- Assist with the supervision of students during play and lunch periods.
- Foster student independence while supporting individual needs.
- Work may include assisting with personal hygiene, direct behavior services (such as ABA), and data collection.
- Assist in the lifting and/or toileting of students into medical equipment such as standers or other adaptive equipment as needed or as required in IEP.
- Maintain proper confidentiality of student records.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- Supporting toileting and daily living skills of students can be an essential function of the job.
- Participate in annual trainings for blood‑borne pathogens, universal precautions, 51A, bullying, epi‑pen use, and kindergarten curriculum.
- Must be highly qualified with an associate's degree, two years of college, or a passing score on the Para Pro test.
- Knowledge of child development (intellectual, social/emotional, and physical) and 12 months of experience working with young students.
- Provide a copy of transcript if possessing an associate's degree or higher.
- All applicants must be fingerprinted prior to hiring.
