CBC Northwest Territories (NWT) is looking for the next host of our weekday radio program, Tusaavik, who is able to work in either Inuvialuktun or Inuinnaqtun. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a daily morning newscast on air, as well as finding, preparing and presenting items for the hour‑long show. Strong candidates will have experience hosting and operating radio programs, but some training and technical assistance is available.

You will join a newsroom dedicated to covering all corners of the NWT within a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment that requires close cooperation and consultation with a producer, while adhering to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. This position is open to people living anywhere in the Northwest Territories. Special accommodations can be made for someone willing and able to broadcast from their home community.

Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Inuvialuktun or Inuinnaqtun.
  • Ability to multi‑task and attention to detail.
  • Community connections and knowledge of community events.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • On‑air experience will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in a daily story meeting.
  • Read the morning news in Inuvialuktun or Inuinnaqtun.
  • Pitch, chase and produce interviews and stories to air.
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
