Job Description
Conservation Biologist
The Wek’èezhìı Renewable Resources Board, established through the Tlicho Agreement, has authority for wildlife, plant, and forest management in Wek’èezhìı. The Board is presently seeking a full‑time Conservation Biologist to join their team for an 18‑month term (May 6, 2024 to November 7, 2025).
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Conservation Biologist will provide scientific research, monitoring, and management advice to and on behalf of the Board on species at risk, plants, forests, and protected areas. Flexible working hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, are required. This position requires frequent travel, including small aircraft, to all communities within Wek’èezhìı. QualificationsBachelor or Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar field.
Experience- Minimum 3 years experience in renewable resource research and monitoring, administration and project management with previous experience working with northern communities and/or in cross-cultural settings.
- Strong analytic and communications skills, particularly in performing technical reviews and analyzing data, using sound scientific methods as well as knowledge of traditional knowledge approaches.
- Renewable resource management training and experience.
- Ability to speak the Tlicho language.

Salary negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience. A northern allowance and an attractive benefits package will be offered. Relocation assistance is negotiable. Hybrid work from office/home structure available.
