Operations Management
You step onto a campus and immediately spot what's wrong — the unlogged ceiling tile hanging loose, the HVAC return that's been making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who completed only half the work but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints to arrive. You fix problems before they're noticed.
That ability defines this position. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 facilities where families expect an environment that is secure, reliable, and visitor-ready every single day — not only when events are scheduled. You will uphold that expectation throughout the Northeast:
Manhattan will be your base campus, and you'll travel regularly to schools in CT, MA, and PA. Your work determines whether a campus maintains its premium standard or quietly deteriorates between leadership reviews.
Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and cleaning up vendor relationships — defining what ready means, building the audit schedule, removing underperforming vendors, and bringing Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists into a consistent operational rhythm. As the region grows and your systems mature, the role evolves toward sustained regional oversight: you become the operator the organization relies on when launching a new campus, responding to emergencies, or revising standards.
This is a field position. If you prefer to manage remotely through dashboards, this role is not suitable. If you want direct accountability for keeping 25+ schools in premium condition every day — and the authority to achieve it — continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing- Executing regular on-site inspections across Northeast campuses using documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and visitor-readiness — and converting findings into confirmed corrective actions
- Resolving facilities issues and emergencies, coordinating vendor response, and closing tickets only after confirming problems are solved (urgent within 24 hours, routine within one week)
- Overseeing local vendor compliance with SLAs, removing vendors who consistently fail to perform, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions on quality and cost
- Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure each campus follows standardized routines rather than ad hoc responses
- Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC replacements, interior updates, landscaping, AV/networking) on time and within budget, minimizing student disruption
- Developing enterprise-wide standards and AI-supported procurement frameworks (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized sourcing) to ensure uniform campus launch and operations
- Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional quality, vendor compliance, escalations, and capital expenditure tracking
- Operating remotely from a dashboard — this position demands consistent physical presence at Manhattan and 20–40% travel to other regional locations (CT, MA, PA)
- Leading ground-up campus design or new construction delivery — capital expansion is managed by a separate team
- Creating enterprise procurement strategy independently from field operations — your standards must be grounded in direct site experience
- Working within clean organizational charts with formal authority over everyone whose output you depend on — you will drive accountability through clarity, written follow-through, and rejection of ambiguous vendor commitments
- Tolerating visitor-ready only when executives are on-site as acceptable — persistent issues must be root-caused, not repeatedly ticketed
- Defaulting to reactive crisis management — the audit schedule and predictive maintenance systems are designed to identify failures before they generate complaints
