Role Description
This full-time, on-site Bilingual Middle School Science Teacher role is based in Yonkers, NY. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess rigorous science lessons aligned with state standards, using both English and the target second language to support multilingual learners. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, leading hands‑on labs and activities, differentiating instruction for diverse learning needs, and integrating language development strategies into science instruction.
The teacher will monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records. Additional duties include collaborating with colleagues and families, participating in professional learning and school initiatives, and supporting a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Proficiency in English and a second language (such as Spanish), with the ability to deliver academic content and communicate effectively with multilingual students and families.
- Strong science content knowledge at the middle school level, including the ability to design inquiry-based, hands‑on, and standards-aligned lessons and assessments.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and experience creating an inclusive, student-centered environment that supports diverse learning needs.
- Ability to differentiate instruction, integrate language development in science teaching, and use data to adjust instructional practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and support staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science Education, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Valid or eligible New York State teacher certification in Middle School Science and/or Bilingual Education, as required by district and state regulations.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools to support instruction, communication, and student engagement.
