Location: City of Yonkers

We are seeking an energetic and strategic Childcare Director to lead our early childhood and after school education initiatives. The Childcare Program Director will supervise the Childcare and After school Programs, including wraparound care services, and ensure that the curriculum and program meet the requirements of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), New York State Child Care Regulations, and the school district's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood standards and best practices.
  • Supervise head and assistant teachers to ensure high-quality instruction and effective team management.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the childcare, after school, and summer camp programs, ensuring adherence to educational policies, safety protocols, and all applicable state and local regulations.
  • Assist in managing the program budget.
  • Manage compliance with state and local regulations, including maintaining all required licenses and certifications.
  • Ensure that
    YWCA
    program standards are met and all safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensure staff meet all professional development requirements to enhance instructional leadership, classroom management, and compliance with New York State and OCFS standards.
  • Collaborate with families, community partners, school districts, and regulatory agencies to promote inclusive educational practices and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise program staff, assist with payroll as needed, oversee scheduling and training requirements, and evaluate employee performance.
  • Respond to parent, school district, and OCFS concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide direction and guidance regarding head teachers' lesson plans and classroom schedules.
  • Support children's learning, growth, and overall development.
  • Work effectively within established learning structures while fostering an environment where all children can succeed.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and program protocols.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to children's developmental and emotional needs, adjusting program activities as appropriate.
  • Maintain high standards of professional ethics as outlined in the childcare and personnel policies of the
    YWCA
    .
  • Work cooperatively as a member of the program team.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings and professional development trainings.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred; at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
  • Meet all OCFS Childcare Director qualifications.
  • Three to five (3–5) years of experience in early childhood education or childcare administration preferred.
  • Extensive leadership experience in early childhood or K–8 educational settings.
  • Experience and knowledge of New York State Special Education regulations, services, and compliance requirements are preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental or educational setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising staff and facilitating professional development.
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of educational compliance standards, personnel management, and program administration.

Pay:$66,000.00–$70,000.00 per year
