Job DetailsDuration: Direct Hire
Location: Yonkers, NY
Salary: $85,000 – $111,000 depending on experience
Shift: Monday to Friday, standard daytime hours
To lead technical training efforts in the field and ensure all training programs and materials meet FRA standards and client requirements, while maintaining logistical oversight and instructional consistency across teams.
Essential FunctionsKey Responsibilities (Electrical / Rail Systems Focus)
- Lead field-based technical training focused on railcar electrical systems, schematics, and equipment, not software platforms
- Develop and deliver training using electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, vendor manuals, and as-built documentation
- Draft and maintain technical training materials based on OEM vendor data, electrical schematics, maintenance manuals, and direct equipment observation
- Verify full compliance with FRA training requirements, including 49 CFR 238.109
- Review, proofread, and technically validate vendor electrical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
- Assign and clarify instructor responsibilities when multiple technical instructors are used in a course
- Manage all training logistics, including equipment, tools, test devices, and consumables required for hands‑on instruction
- Monitor vendor and subcontractor technical quality and accuracy during classroom and field instruction
- Deliver training covering railcar electrical systems, propulsion and auxiliary power, control circuits, subsystem integration, interfaces, and applicable FRA regulations
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between Engineering, vendors, and the Authority
- Draft formal technical communications to vendors and the Authority as directed
- Coordinate training sessions at Authority sites and ensure all electrical documentation, drawings, and equipment are available and current
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering Department to address trainee questions related to schematics, troubleshooting, and system functionality
- Ensure timely delivery of all contractual technical training deliverables to the Authority
- Assist in curriculum development and scheduling for new railcar and equipment contracts
- Provide written evaluations of course content, technical accuracy, and instructor performance after each session
- Support the Manager and Assistant Manager of Training and Manuals in technical staff development
- Bachelor’s degree (BS preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related discipline
- Formal technical training (e.g., Military electronics, rail systems, or transportation electrical programs) strongly preferred
This role involves both office-based documentation and on-site fieldwork, including coordination with vendors and hands‑on engagement with rail cars and training equipment. Candidates should be comfortable navigating both technical documentation and real-world application.
