Overview

We are currently seeking a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care to join our team supporting the Valentine Lane site in Yonkers.

A Nurse Practitioner, under the direction of a physician, is responsible for planning, evaluating and delivering the health care of patients on assigned service. Emphasis is on preventative health measures and patient education. The NP will perform other duties as assigned and in compliance with systems and job-specific standards.

Pay: $74.46-$78.07 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Takes histories, performs physical examinations, gives immunizations (as necessary) and provides patient education and counseling.
  • Orders appropriate lab work, draws blood for lab work if needed, and performs some lab tests such as wet prep microscopic exams.
  • Prescribes treatment for minor illnesses, and consults with a physician regarding medication, chronic illness and referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintains legible and appropriate documentation and reviews records periodically. Follows up on abnormal Pap smears and reportable STDs.
  • Attends case conferences involving patients.
  • Attends continuing education programs to increase skills and knowledge.
  • Attends provider meetings and participates in quality improvement programs and team assignments.
  • Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age-specific needs (e.g., infants, adolescents, geriatrics).
  • Follows OSHA infection control standards under CDC guidelines as endorsed by the department, organization, and Infection Control Officer.
  • Provides safe and effective performance while meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    Master’s Degree
  • Minimum Work-Related

    Experience:

    1-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care
  • Preferred

    Work Experience:

    3+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care
  • Minimum Licensure:
    Valid Nurse Practitioner license in New York State and CPR/BLS
  • Required Skills & Knowledge:
    Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures for nurse practitioners; competence in delivering healthcare including preventative health education; ability to collaborate with other health center staff to maintain high quality standards and client satisfaction; bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) preferred
