Certified Nurse Midwife

Summit Health is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our established group. This position involves providing prenatal and postpartum care to patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

• Obtain detailed history, perform a physical examination, and identify problems to determine a plan for OB/GYN patient care.
• Initiate and order diagnostic procedures, labs, radiologic studies, and fetal heart rate tracings; interpret results as appropriate.
• Provide patient counseling and education for OB/GYN patients.
• Prescribe medications, including controlled substances allowed by CT law, as part of the therapeutic plan.
• Document all aspects of visits in the chart—date of service, chief complaint, history, social and family history, office course, diagnosis, therapeutic plan, medications administered, medication reconciliation, pelvic and cervical exams, and supervising physician name.
• Order and administer injections and intravenous medications as needed.
• Collect diagnostic fluids, including blood, urine, sputum, and exudates.
• Interpret Non‑Stress Test results for OB/GYN patients.
• Assist or triage patients calling Summit Health with concerns.
• Screen for postpartum depression.
• Participate in day/night, weekday/weekend call rotation at the affiliated hospital under supervising physician guidance.
• Attend uncomplicated vaginal deliveries.
• Assist with cesarean sections.
• Provide antepartum and postpartum patient care.
• Be on call to the ER for obstetric/gynecologic emergencies.
