Position OverviewCoastal Ridge Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and welcoming Administrative Assistant to join our front office team for the upcoming school year. This is a school‑year position (186 days) beginning late August and concluding in mid‑to‑late June. As the first point of contact for our “CRES” families and visitors, you will play a vital role in maintaining the positive, supportive environment our school is known for.
You will work closely with the principal, the full‑year administrative assistant, and our faculty to ensure daily operations run smoothly for our students and staff.
- Greet visitors, maintain security logs, and act as a helpful liaison between school staff, parents, students, and the York community.
- Manage the multi‑line phone system and school intercom; draft school‑wide correspondence and daily reports.
- Organize logistics for school performances and meetings, manage room scheduling, and support teacher coverage as needed.
- Maintain accurate student records, manage daily attendance data, and track bussing information and class rosters.
- Operate and perform minor troubleshooting for all office equipment (copiers, radios, etc.) and assist staff with general clerical needs.
- Assist in the management of student awards and certificates.
- Maintain the school's public and social media messaging.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and warmly while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student and family information.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and willingness to master student information systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to think on your feet in a fast‑paced elementary school environment.
- Track record of building positive relationships with children, colleagues, and the public.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred:
Post‑secondary education and prior experience in an educational setting. - Experience in a high‑traffic, public‑facing role.
