JOB GOAL:
To support the consistent, high‑fidelity implementation of the district’s Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework—with an emphasis on direct academic and behavioral intervention.

Under the supervision of certified staff, the MTSS Ed Tech will deliver targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, collect student progress monitoring data, and collaborate with school‑based teams to ensure students receive the support needed to succeed within the General Education setting.

Qualifications
  • Current State of Maine Educational Technician II or III Authorization (or eligibility for immediate certification).
  • Approved State of Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) fingerprinting.
  • Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience as required by State of Maine Ed Tech level guidelines (60+ credits for Ed Tech II; 90+ credits or Bachelor’s degree for Ed Tech III).
  • Experience working with school‑aged children, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Experience or training in executing behavior plans and structured academic interventions is highly preferred.
Minimum Requirements
  • Understanding of the social‑emotional development and academic needs of young adolescents (Middle School Connection).
  • General understanding of the Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and the distinction between Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports.
  • Ability to accurately track, log, and organize student progress monitoring data and behavior charts.
  • High emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young adolescent learners (Interpersonal Skills).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teachers, specialists, administrators, and counselor teams (Collaborative Mindset).
Specific Performance Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group academic and behavioral interventions using research‑based programs and strategies prescribed by certified staff.
  • Guide students in strengthening essential middle school skills, including time management, self‑regulation, emotional tracking, organization, and study habits (Executive Functioning Support).
  • Administer progress monitoring tools regularly and track daily behavioral data to assist certified staff in evaluating intervention effectiveness (Data Collection & Tracking).
  • Assist in the direct implementation of customized behavior support plans and positive behavioral interventions inside and outside the general education classroom (Support Student Behavior Plans).
  • Attend scheduled MTSS Team meetings to report on student progress, share observational data, and contribute to team decision‑making (Team Participation).
  • Maintain close, proactive communication with classroom teachers, counselors, and specialists regarding student daily performance, triumphs, and challenges (Collaborative Communication).
  • Foster student independence by gradually fading supports as students meet their growth benchmarks and internalize success habits (Build Independence).
  • Participate in district‑provided professional development regarding intervention techniques and behavior management strategies (Professional Growth).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervising certified educator.
