Job Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing – Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13‑week assignment in York, Maine. The assignment begins on 07/20/2026 and requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts.
Responsibilities- Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, document changes, and report concerns to the care team.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical or surgical conditions.
- Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, physical therapists, social workers—to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs.
- Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan.
- Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- One year of recent Med Surg RN experience.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification.
- NIHSS certification.
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical abilities: ability to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Technical/motor skills: grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, and move during procedures.
- Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the general public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without supervision, and maintain concentration to detail.
