Job DescriptionThe Maine Democratic Party is seeking a Research Tracking Coordinator who will be based in Augusta or Portland, Maine to join the team for the 2026 election cycle. The Research Tracking Coordinator will be a key member of the research team, monitoring opponents on a day-to-day basis both in person and virtually and reporting on candidate events as well as organizing volunteers to attend events.
We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, who is a responsive, passionate and determined worker with a creative approach to identifying research opportunities, and who has experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires accurate work on tight deadlines. The Research Tracking Coordinator will work closely with members of the research and communications teams. We are looking for candidates who are excited about campaigns and looking to grow their campaign skills.
The Research Tracking Coordinator will be expected to travel to events as necessary.
- Comprehensively track opponents’ schedules and identify opportunities to record opponents, get them on the record, and hold them accountable.
- Transcribe and comprehensively report events and activities to the campaign team.
- Assist with other duties as assigned such as opposition research, rapid response, and paid media tracking.
- Recruit, manage, and oversee a volunteer tracking network.
- Interest and passion for politics and campaigns
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while being proactive and communicative with other staff
- Desire to hone research and political skills in a dynamic, active department
- Discretion and sound judgment when dealing with sensitive information
- Research and confirm details for tracking opportunities, maintaining a robust calendar for insight purposes
- Attend and record footage and audio of public events in a timely manner with key activity highlighted
- Process transcriptions of digital assets and distribute same-day reports that identify key details of the event
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer tracking and provide regular updates to the party
- Proactively solve problems and provide a high level of precision and detail in work
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to achieve program goals
- Work on other research tasks as assigned
- A current driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone
- Availability to work weeknights and weekends as needed
- Willingness to monitor a 24-hour news cycle

This is a full-time position that offers a generous benefits package. Salary is in the $4,500/month range. This position is based in Maine with some in-office work required at one of MDP’s regional offices (Portland, Bangor, Augusta) and MDP’s headquarters in Augusta. This position is a part of the Maine Democratic Party employees' bargaining unit, represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #1837.
