Monday – Friday, 1st shift;
Saturdays as needed
United Ag & Turf NE is seeking a Field Service Technician responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial, construction, and forestry equipment, generally working independently and outside the shop environment. The technician supports the Service department in a professional, safe, and timely manner.
What You’ll Do
- Read job orders and observe equipment in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
- Install fuel injection nozzles and pumps, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions, hydraulic systems, and components.
- Inspect safety guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment.
- Fabricate lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematics.
- Remove, replace, and repair tires, undercarriages, and agricultural equipment attachments.
- Provide detailed descriptions of work performed on work orders.
- Maintain and care for shop tools and equipment.
- Keep a clean work area and perform housekeeping duties.
- Follow safety procedures to ensure safe work environment.
- Read schematics for operating specifications and evaluation requirements.
- Test units for conformance with operating standards.
- Help ensure that new and used equipment is in good working condition.
- Maintain assigned service vehicle, including cleanliness and inspections.
- Operate a company vehicle in compliance with state laws.
Requirements
What It Takes
- Own and maintain your own tools (specialty tools provided by dealership)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and respond to after-hours calls
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education
- High school diploma or GED
Physical Requirements
The physical demands include:
- Standing for long periods, bending, lying, and crawling under equipment
- Lifting parts and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Operating on irregular terrain and heavy equipment
- Driving during day and night
- Using hands and arms, talking, hearing, sitting, standing, and walking
