As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you’ll play a vital part in patient care by delivering accurate and timely laboratory results. Your work will span a variety of lab technologies and responsibilities, including:
- Collecting and labeling specimens correctly — including DOT‑regulated urine drug screens and breath alcohol testing.
- Ensuring proper specimen identification and correcting any discrepancies.
- Conducting a broad range of clinical lab tests to aid in diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients.
- Performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting lab instruments according to policies and manufacturer guidance.
- Evaluating results for abnormalities, answering technical questions, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Participating in process improvements, equipment evaluations, and procedure reviews.
- Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology (or equivalent 60 credit hours with 24 in lab science).
- ASCP certification (or equivalent) as an MLT is strongly encouraged.
- Strong grasp of lab theory, testing methods, and best practices.
- Independent, critical thinker with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
