SummaryDirects and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in the plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the implementation of the corporate contracts. Enters information into Navision and validates its correctness.
- Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of storeroom and central supply personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
- Interfaces with corporate purchasing on supplier problems and gives feedback on supplier quality. Updates corporate purchasing on new products used and specification changes.
- Works with Controller to ensure the Finance Policy 2100 is followed.
- Works with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
Directly supervises employees in the Purchasing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a Material Manager, including experience in Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Planning, and Shipping and Receiving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
- Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
- Must be able to meet deadlines, multitask, and work under pressure.
- Prior experience utilizing an ERP system and knowledge of the Navision ERP system is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
