Varying shifts available. Starting wage $50,000 per hour. Additional $3 per hour facility differential and $1.50–$2.50 shift differential.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re‑entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Under limited supervision of a Nursing Director/Associate or Nurse Supervisor, provide professional nursing care for ill, injured, or disabled inmates. Provide clinical direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff. Offer direct patient nursing care and treatment within the scope of licensure in a correctional setting. Perform patient care in a clinic or hospital setting. Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients utilizing protocols, triage, and assist in moving patients.

Minimum Qualifications: A current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in assigning, reviewing, leading, or supervising the work of others.

Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Requires completion of four to eight weeks of on-the-job training. Must submit to background security check. Applicants must pass a pre-employment medical examination and a drug test. At the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Pre-service Training Program.
