Job Summary
Overland Ready Mixed is looking for a Dispatcher to join our team! This role coordinates activities of workers engaged in manufacturing concrete products and delivering Ready Mixed Concrete. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated, hard worker, and reliable.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnswers incoming phone calls from customers, takes orders for concrete, including mix design, amount, delivery, address, time of delivery or anything relevant to the order.
Follows all DOT FMCSA and NEBCO rules, in regard to dispatching drivers.
Enters information into the Command Alkon dispatch system, assures accuracy of data input to the system.
Confers with plant production and yard personnel to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery site, and unloading time.
Prepares invoices, delivery tickets, and related shipping documents and assigns drivers for scheduled deliveries.
Posts transactions to customers' delivery ticket and issues customers statements to drivers.
Maintains radio contact with drivers to expedite deliveries.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- three months related experience in customer service, dispatch, ore related roles; or
- equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Previous commercial driver’s license is helpful, but not necessary.
- Previous dispatch experience is helpful and preferred.
- Must have computer literacy to perform the aspects of this position.
- Knowledge of Cisco phone systems and/or Contact Management Systems for orders.
- Knowledge of Dispatch software and Order Processing Systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of comprehending weather forecasting.
- Must be able to maintain composure and manage high stress aspects of the job.
- Self‑motivated with a willingness to take the initiative.
- Must be able to maintain business‑like attitude when dealing with employees, drivers, customers and other personnel.
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule.
- Ability to work in a one workspace with limited ability to leave the job site.
- Ability to apply general math skills – add, subtract, divide, fractions, decimals, rate, ratio, and percent.
Skills and Abilities
- Good working knowledge of the layout of city and surrounding areas.
- Must be able to produce high quality, accurate work while coordinating a heavy workload department.
- Must be skilled in solving problems with good workable solutions.
- Ability to multi‑task is very important.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Ability to adapt to constant changes in the workplace.
