Position Overview
Cambria County is seeking a professional full‑time Clerk Typist 1 to support the daily office functions of Cambria County Children and Youth Service. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and community service and offers an opportunity to develop helpful office skills while contributing to meaningful programs.
Responsibilities- Prepare documents: type letters, forms, and court documents for casework staff; proofread, follow formatting rules, and correct grammar; make photocopies as needed.
- Organize records: scan documents, upload them to the correct location, and file physical documents in case records.
- Data entry: enter data for intakes and screen outs into the unit’s computer database.
- Handle mail: use the postage meter to stamp outgoing mail, send outgoing mail, and distribute interoffice mail.
- Reception support: answer incoming phone calls and cover the front desk for receptionists when needed.
- Teamwork: prioritize workload based on deadlines, adapt to unpredictable clerical duties and typing, and assist with other office work.
- Full‑time employment (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch).
- No telework option.

In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
- Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- The position is governed by the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, Pennsylvania State Police clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
