Marketing and Communications Specialist (PaTTAN) – Job
Location:
PaTTAN East, 2500 Monroe Boulevard, Suite 110, Norristown, PA 19403
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7 hours/day, 12 months (260–262 days/year)
Annual Salary: $27.41/hour to $32.25/hour (PS2)
Qualifications- Minimum 1–3 years related experience in administrative, clerical, communications or office support functions. (BS in a related field preferred but not required.)
- Demonstrated professionalism: general skills necessary to complete assigned work functions accurately and efficiently.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to interact respectfully with staff and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of digital design or layout tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Canva, or similar applications) using templates and established formats — Preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Interest in and aptitude for learning new digital communication and technology tools.
- Experience using or supporting web content management systems preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic digital accessibility practices (captions, alternative text, accessible document formatting); familiarity with assistive technologies such as screen readers preferred.
- Ability to manage and maintain databases or electronic systems, including registration or tracking systems.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and phone systems.
- Strong organizational skills with specific emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to support multiple staff members.
- Ability to work under stress and with frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI.
- Provide clerical and technical support in the creation of digital materials such as videos, digital flyers, graphics, posters, and banners for training events and marketing purposes, using established templates and guidance.
- Assist with the preparation, formatting, and distribution of multiple digital newsletters and email communications that support the initiatives of BSE/PaTTAN.
- Assist with the production, updating, and organization of electronic publications and documents, including preparing accessible PDF and digital files using provided standards.
- Support limited print production and inventory needs, maintaining an up‑to‑date inventory of essential printed materials and supplies, consistent with a print‑minimal approach.
- Provide support for social media activities, including preparing draft posts, uploading content, adding captions or alternative text as directed, and assisting with basic data or analytics reports.
- Assist with posting, editing, and maintaining content on the PaTTAN website and You Tube channel, including uploading files, formatting content, and following established accessibility and content guidelines.
- Accept mail, sign for packages, log deliveries, and notify appropriate staff.
- Copy, collate, package, and distribute professional development materials upon request, with an emphasis on electronic distribution whenever possible.
- Provide support for promoting events by photographing or recording short videos and uploading or organizing media files for digital and social media use as directed.
- Support the application of basic digital accessibility practices when preparing and distributing communications materials, using provided tools and checklists.
- Project a positive and professional image of the IU and its programs and services through courteous interactions and accurate, timely support of communications activities.
- Perform other related clerical and support duties as assigned.
