Geotechnical Group Leader

Location:

York, PA

Travel: willing to travel: PA, MD, DE, and VA as needed

Pay: $93,850/yr

We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Group Leader. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Position Duties:

  • The Group Leader is required to be onsite at each project in order to direct the work of the crew.
  • Assist/direct all drilling/driving activities including but not limited to driving pile, drilling, grouting, re-grouting, hydraulic jacking, temporary and permanent excavation support and testing to meet design requirements.
  • Document all design requirements as specified for the Engineer of Record, maintain and provide such documentation on demand.
  • Lead/Supervise all crew members concurrently throughout the work shift including timecard entry and company required forms.
  • Familiar with all Minor Equipment associated with tasks and in support of such task.
  • Identify all Fall Exposures and implement appropriate Fall Prevention Measures "Best Practice", including PPE and proper use thereof.
  • Confirm all access roads or drill/crane pads are prepared to the required stability to safely operate all equipment.
  • Develop Project Equipment requirements needed to complete the work. Schedule mobilization and de-mobilization of all equipment.
  • Share impressions with managers about how crew members are performing their duties, so that the managers can make human resource decisions such as whether to promote, improve performance, or obtain additional certifications.
  • Work at unanticipated work sites throughout unanticipated locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia to be onsite for as little as one week or as long as multiple months depending on the scope and volume of the work on that job. May oversee a crew installing driven/drilled pile for foundations, soldier pile and lagging, various welding needs for shoring and/or structural steel bridges, assembling and disassembling crane (under the direction of an assembly/disassembly director and other various heavy civil activities if needed).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Position Requirements:
Requires valid Driver's License, and completion of High School, or GED, or equivalent, together with:
Minimum 5 years of construction-related experience associated with deep foundation and earth support construction in the Northeast (PA, MD, NJ, DE, VA, WV) due to the unique nature of ground conditions in that topographic area, including but not limited to the following: 2 Years of experience working around Heavy Equipment (for example cranes, drills, excavators) to assist with daily fueling, maintenance, set up/dismantle at work locations, loading/unloading, and tooling and to complete all scheduled work activities.

2 Years of experience with the application of Work Plans in regards to Equipment Specifications and understanding of site safety requirements and controls. 2 Years of experience in Blueprint Reading with regard to Geotechnical Design. 2 years of experience working with Drill Equipment (large and small diameter), Grout/Concrete Pumps, Whale/Tendon Design and Placement, Diesel Impact Hammers, Vibratory Hammers and Power packs, and Minor support equipment.

In addition, the Geo Tech Group Leader must have at least 1 year of experience specific to Pile Driving, to include:
Large and Small Diameter Drilling, Driven Pile, Temporary and permanent earth support, Auger-cast pile/ground improvement, Ability to travel to project in the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, NJ, DE, VA, WV) (100% domestic travel within mid-Atlantic region to unanticipated project sites as this is a roving position) – relocation is not required, Ability to work at heights up to 150 feet, Must be able to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
