The Special Education Teacher (PreK-3) is a dynamic and compassionate educator who will provide direct support and instruction to students with disabilities across multiple early childhood and elementary classrooms. This itinerant positions involves working with Preschool and K-3 grade students, including those on the Autism spectrum, some of whom may be nonverbal and have toileting needs. The teacher is responsible for delivering specially designed instruction, managing IEP compliance and documentation and collaborating closely with General Education Teachers, related service providers and families.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with disabilities in inclusive and/or pull-out settings across multiple PreK-3 classrooms.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies tailored to meet diverse developmental and academic needs.
- Develop, implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with Federal, State (PA Chapter 14) and District regulations
- Complete all Special Education paperwork, including IEPs, ERs, NOREPs, progress monitoring reports and other compliance documentation.
- Conduct or contribute to assessments and evaluations as part of the eligibility and reevaluation process.
- Collaborate with General Education Teachers to support inclusion, differentiation and accommodation/modifications.
- Support students with Autism and complex needs, including those who are nonverbal or require support with communications, behavior and toileting
- Provide functional and adaptive instruction as needed, including social-emotional learning and self-care skills.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with families and participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences and team collaboration.
- Utilize assistive technology, visual supports and augmentative communication tools when appropriate.
