• Job Title: Special Education Instructional Assistant/Personal Care Assistant (IA/PCA)

• Provide and facilitate activities for all assigned subject areas.
• Assist students with IEPs by staying focused on tasks, monitoring and reporting behavior, reviewing instructional material, and re‑teaching as required.
• Prepare students with IEPs for quizzes and tests, conduct study sessions and review games.
• Administer quizzes/tests as directed by the classroom teacher and special education teacher.
• Participate in IEP and team meetings when required; become familiar with the IEPs of students.
• Assist with the preparation and set‑up of learning activities, monitor students’ activities, and provide one‑on‑one assistance in class, tutoring, data collection, grade assignments, and tests.
• Teach learning strategies to individuals and small groups across subject areas and develop learning activities such as flashcards and worksheets.
• Record assessment data for students with special needs.
• Assist with student supervision in hallways, at breakfast, during assemblies, and at the beginning and end of the school day.
• Deliver community and work‑environment services for learners with disabilities.

• Complete at least two (2) years of post‑secondary study (48 credits) or possess an Associate’s Degree or higher, or meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a state or local assessment.
• Local assessment options:
  
  • The Special Education Credential of Competency (free of charge, provided by CYSD) or
  
  • The CAPE test (must receive a passing score of 80% or higher).
• Maintain 20 hours per year of professional development related to the identified position.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification based on assignments.
• Valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks obtained within the last twelve (12) months.

Hourly Rate: $15.55 – $20.30 (step placement based on years of service).
