PurposeThe Health And Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing standards-aligned instruction in health education and physical education. The primary purpose of this position is to promote students' physical fitness, health literacy, wellness, and lifelong healthy behaviors while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment in accordance with district policies and Pennsylvania academic standards.
Qualifications Training And Experience• Bachelor's degree in health education, physical education, or a related field required
• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Health And Physical Education Teaching Certificate required
• Experience teaching health and/or physical education at the elementary, middle, or secondary level preferred
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Health, Safety, and Physical Education
• Experience with fitness assessment, skill development, and wellness education preferred
General• Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
• Strong classroom and activity management skills
• Ability to instruct students of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels
• Ability to promote positive health behaviors, teamwork, and sportsmanship

ReportabilityThe Health And Physical Education Teacher reports to the Building Principal or designee and works collaboratively with instructional staff and support personnel.
EvaluationPerformance is evaluated by the Building Principal or designee in accordance with district policies, procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Performance Responsibilities• Plan, implement, and assess standards-aligned health and physical education instruction
• Teach physical skills, fitness concepts, teamwork, and sportsmanship through structured activities and games
• Provide instruction in health topics such as wellness, nutrition, physical fitness, safety, and personal responsibility
• Promote lifelong fitness, healthy decision-making, and positive social behaviors
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Monitor and assess student progress using appropriate instructional and performance-based assessments
• Maintain a safe, organized, and well-managed learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students and parents/guardians regarding progress and expectations
• Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide wellness initiatives
• Maintain and manage equipment, facilities, and instructional materials responsibly
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and district initiatives
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional activities as assigned
• Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee
