About the RoleExecu
POWER is seeking an experienced Lead Distribution Engineer to support and lead electric distribution engineering projects across Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for overseeing the development of overhead and underground distribution design packages, providing technical leadership to engineering teams, and serving as a key client-facing engineering resource. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in electric distribution systems, experience leading project teams, and a deep understanding of utility standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages for overhead and underground systems
. - Supervise and mentor design teams, including engineers and designers, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget
. - Perform engineering design and analysis for capital and reliability projects, including:
- Reconductoring
- Voltage conversions
- Distributed Generation (DG)
- FLISR
- Underground conversions
- Conduct detailed engineering calculations such as:
- Pole loading and structural analysis
- Guying calculations
- Conductor sag and tension
- Voltage drop and flicker analysis
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and field engineering requirements, including easements and right-of-way applications
. - Ensure all designs comply with NESC
, client standards, and applicable regulations. - Review, approve, and stamp (if applicable) design packages prior to client submission.
- Perform QA/QC reviews to maintain high-quality, compliant deliverables.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, attending meetings and providing engineering support during construction.
- Assist with work permit development and coordinate with regulatory agencies for approvals.
- Support team growth through training, mentorship, and technical knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 5-8+ years of experience in electric distribution engineering, preferably within a utility or consulting environment.
- Professional Engineer (
PE
) license preferred. - PMP certification is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of NESC and utility design standards.
- Proficiency with industry design tools such as GIS, EFD, AUD, O-Calc, Pole Foreman
, or similar platforms. - Proven leadership and communication skills with experience managing teams and interfacing directly with clients.
- Lead impactful distribution projects for major utility clients.
- Work remotely while supporting local Pennsylvania utility territories.
