We are currently looking for a summer seasonal transportation construction inspector. In this role you will be responsible for a range of technical tasks related to the inspection of transportation construction projects. Your primary objective is to ensure that all work is executed in strict compliance with the approved construction plans, standards, specifications, and contract documents at various job and work sites.
in this position you will engage in technical activities focused on inspecting materials and workmanship for road and bridge construction projects. Projects may involve roadway overlays, widening, stabilization, earthwork, guide rail installation, and drainage systems. Your responsibilities include interpreting contract requirements by analyzing specifications and drawings, employing a range of testing and inspection techniques, and exercising independent judgment to make technical decisions on site.
You will collaborate effectively with contractors and other personnel across all six counties within district 5, with the main office located in allentown, pa.
- full‑time, seasonal employment
- work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, monday‑friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- you will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability

- three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- one year as an engineering technician (commonwealth job title or equivalent federal government job title, as determined by the office of administration); or
- two years as a transportation technician or construction cost technician i; (commonwealth job titles or equivalent federal government job titles, as determined by the office of administration); or
- one year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- this position requires possession of an active non‑commercial pennsylvania class c driver’s license or equivalent.
