What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Engineering Services Inc., formerly United Engineers and Constructors, an Aecon Company, is seeking a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) to support Nuclear Generating Stations on site in the Pittsburgh, PA area. The successful candidate will manage engineering and design efforts to modify and upgrade existing nuclear power plants.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Provide engineering management and guidance to subordinate staff, enforcing company and project policies.
  • Plan and manage work activities to ensure successful project execution while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Demonstrate project leadership while working under supervision of a Project Manager or above.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks among a multidiscipline project staff.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day activities and proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze issues, develop alternatives, and determine the optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of resources and capabilities of other groups for appropriate incorporation into the project organization.
  • Clearly understand scope of work and contract requirements pertaining to area of responsibility.
  • Serve as responsible professional engineer (PE) in the state where the work is based.
  • Actively manage the engineering schedule and cost performance.
  • Support or conduct formal status reporting and presentations to client and/or management.
What You Bring To The Team:
  • B.S. Engineering Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Ability to manage engineering elements of a large and complex Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) project.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any State with ability to be licensed in other States by Comity.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience working with nuclear plant engineering and design.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory position.
  • Take ownership of engineering work performed on a project.
  • Experience working with others in a Project Team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Basic understanding of project performance metrics (PI and SPI).
  • Experience with electric power uprates is preferred.
  • Field experience and ability to perform site walk‑downs.
