Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research (IR), the Assistant Director is responsible for a broad range of activities involving data collection, cleaning, organization, production, analysis, and reporting. This position also assists with other data analyses that support institutional decision-making, as well as manages key data through various business intelligence tools.
Position Responsibilities- Manages the collection, analysis, and reporting of complex data to institutional stakeholders and external entities (e.g. federal, state, accreditation, US News).
- Designs, builds and maintains reports to support institutional, compliance, and ad hoc needs.
- Collaborates with the Director to proactively assess and address other department needs for data and information.
- Leads cross‑training efforts and creates user documentation (e.g. manuals), training materials, and standard operating procedures to build institutional reporting capacity.
- Contributes to data governance initiatives and ensures data integrity, consistency, and security through collaboration with IT and other stakeholders.
- Serves as administrator for the University’s survey software and provides technical support to end users in developing and administering surveys.
- Assists in managing institutional surveys.
- Serves as a key liaison to academic and administrative departments, providing data consultation and training.
- Engages in professional development activities and serves on University committees as appropriate.

- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; master’s preferred.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in institutional research and/or data analysis or related areas.
- Professional experience with Workday (or another student information system), data management, and analysis.
- Documented experience with statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, R, SAS), SQL, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others, meet deadlines in a fast‑paced office environment, be detail oriented, and committed to data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Experience writing queries and reports in a college or university institutional research office.
- Documented experience with IPEDS and advanced statistics.
- Demonstrated experience building reports and interactive charts/graphs using analytical and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics).
