Location Description

Responsibilities

Second Shift

Approximate hours: 2pm - 11:45pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

The purpose of the egg dock receiving person is to insure the proper delivery, shipment, and customer service required to maintain and continue business expectations from a premier egg products company. Drivers, management, and coworkers benefit from the work done by this person who ensures shipments are loaded/unloaded, logged and disbursed in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Confirm and log items and supplies received, material numbers, weights, and quantities on pallets.
  • Perform the placement/removal process from the dock to the proper plant location with the use of power jacks.
  • Load/unload trailers according to instructions issued by the Breaking Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
  • Maintain the sanitation processes and general good housekeeping for the area, and follow the GMP’s to achieve a clean and safe workplace.
  • Determine if product meets proper specifications and take corrective action as needed.
  • Enter appropriate data into the computer.
  • Maintain dock security inside and outside the dock area.
  • Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF Level 3 certification. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification.
  • Driver’s license.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Have the ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification.
  • Basic reading and verbal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment.
  • Have the ability to learn the sanitation processes, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety regulations for the area.
  • Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the area.
  • Have ability to learn breaking department procedures, to insure a safe and productive flow of product.
  • Have the equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.
  • Ability to operate specific equipment or tools.
  • Skill in working with computers and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software.
