CNC Machinist
Machinist II is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision components used in hydro turbines and complete turbine assemblies. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and ensuring all parts meet strict quality and safety standards. The machinist monitors machine performance, makes necessary adjustments, and performs inspections to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Working closely with engineering and production teams, the CNC Machinist helps ensure reliable, high-quality turbine components are delivered on schedule.
Proficient in blueprint reading and understanding of geometric tolerancing
Able to make all but the most complex component set ups on large VBM's
Able to edit programs for VBM's
Able to make all but the most complex components set ups on large HBM's
Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding work piece, schedule, safety, etc. as they arise
Able to edit programs for HBM's
Cleans up sweepings of machine tool operation scrap and collects in scrap/trash bins
Able to set up feeds, speeds and judge cutter/insert condition to optimize machining operation for meeting surface finish and productivity
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Associate degree preferred
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Two years to four years' experience as a CNC Machinist
Journey Machinist Preferred
Indoor working conditions (outdoor as needed)
Confined area to contain sparks and glare
Exposure to loud noises
Long periods of standing and sitting
May work in a scaffold or platform off the ground
Heavy lifting may be required at times.
