JOB DESCRIPTION

PA Stands Up is an independent, multiracial organization dedicated to winning a Pennsylvania that works for all of us. We are working people living across Pennsylvania’s small cities and towns and rural areas. Our 4 chapters spanning 6 counties work across race and place to build grassroots leadership, fight for policies that work for working people, and elect candidates who represent our values.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly supervise paid field staff driving accountability, ongoing reflection, learning, innovation, and improvement through check-ins, goal setting, accountability, and one to one coaching.
  • Metrics
  • Develop standardized metrics for field staff to meet as a standard for PA Stands Up field organizing programs including but not limited to:
  • Door knocks
  • Phone calls
  • Member recruitment/prospects
  • Host spaces in the Field department for consistent outreach, engagement, and development for staff and member leaders
  • Work with the Directors of Power Building and People + Culture to develop and implement a consistent training program for our field staff
  • Develop and train on a standardized curriculum for new canvassers
  • Daily political education for canvassers
  • Develop and train on campaign specific training and skill-building in relation to chapter-specific and statewide issue campaigns
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute internal training programs for staff development
COMPLIANCE
  • Ensure all field programs and staff are in compliance with our internal processes.
  • Work with the Director of Operations + Finance to ensure all work is done in accordance with legal requirements and all hours worked by the director and field staff are tracked properly
  • Advise on and maintain any firewalls or other compliance measures taken by PA Stands Up over the course of election cycles
ELECTORAL STRATEGY + ISSUE CAMPAIGNING
  • Oversee an ambitious paid partisan and non-partisan canvass program in PA Stands Up’s priority municipalities
  • Manage and oversee all paid and distributed field programs
  • Set field targeting and direct voter contact goals to help win key races and build the power of our chapters
  • Work with SLT and chapters’ member-leaders to establish long term strategies to flip our state legislature, congressional districts and senate seats while electing movement aligned champions
  • Collaborate with the Organizing and Communications departments to build powerful local, state and national campaigns and achieve policy wins through sophisticated field programs
  • In cooperation with the Director of Power Building, drive the local chapter power building support strategy, based upon local chapter power building plans for membership recruitment and leadership development
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Program Team on statewide days of action or mobilizations in relation to statewide issue campaigns, budget fights, and rapid response mobilizations
COMMUNICATIONS + LEADERSHIP
  • Demonstrate visionary leadership to grow a mass movement of multi-racial and cross-class working people across Pennsylvania
  • Build relationships with local members and leaders engaged in statewide campaigns through regular 1-1s across chapter membership.
  • Represent the organization in local, state, and national coalitions as determined by Director of Power Building; work with coalition partners on aligned campaigns
  • Exemplify and cultivate a work culture of support and accountability
  • Work with Director of Narrative & Communications to integrate local chapter priorities into our electoral and issue campaign work plan
  • Together with Director of Narrative & Communications, help shape public messaging and communications strategy to support electoral and legislative campaigns
