Position: Registered Nurse (2nd Shift) - Torrance State Hospital

THE POSITION

As a Registered Nurse with the Department of Health and Human Services, you will play a key part in improving lives at Torrance State Hospital. DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This position plays an important role in providing nursing care and supporting patient treatment at Torrance State Hospital. The work focuses on promoting safety, wellness, and daily progress for each patient.

DUTIES
  • Patient Assessment:
    Evaluate patient conditions and monitor changes to guide care planning
  • Therapeutic Support:
    Promote healing by maintaining a safe and structured environment
  • Care Coordination:
    Work with the treatment team to plan, adjust, and document patient care needs
  • Medication Management:
    Administer medications and observe reactions to ensure patient safety
  • Team Leadership:
    Guide staff during daily routines and model professional nursing practices
  • Health

    Education:

    Teach and support patients in developing daily living and wellness skills
WORK SCHEDULE & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours:

    2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) with a 30‑minute lunch
  • Every other weekend off
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Schedule may change based on operational needs
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this posting

  • Salary:
    Starting annual salary of $92,052.00 (before taxes) for new employees in Pennsylvania
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • If holding a temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure within 1 year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
  • PA residency requirement is waived for this title
  • If within 60 days of graduating from an approved nursing school, must provide proof of a current temporary practice permit or PA RN license at appointment
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening is required for a conditional offer
  • Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring criminal history clearance (State Police and FBI)
