The Department of Human Services is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead a dedicated team caring for individuals with complex needs at Wernersville State Hospital. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position provides leadership and guidance to nursing staff to support safe, effective, and therapeutic patient care. The work helps maintain strong communication, consistent care practices, and a positive treatment environment.
- Nursing Leadership:
Supervise daily nursing care and guide staff across multiple patient care areas - Staff Support:
Provide training, orientation, and ongoing development for nursing personnel - Care Coordination:
Communicate with leaders, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care - Safe Environment:
Maintain a therapeutic setting and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures - Investigative Duties:
Conduct patient abuse investigations following required guidelines and expectations - Record Oversight:
Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and complete evaluations and assessments
Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week. Initial training hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. After training, the 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM) with a 30‑minute lunch and rotating days off during the week. Workers are required to work every third weekend. Telework is not an option. Salary: in some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable. Further communication regarding the position will be via email.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.
- Special Requirements:
- You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
