Job Summary
Geisinger is proud to offer a full‑time Inpatient RN position with up to $24,000 hiring incentive for eligible candidates. The position has a minimum hiring rate of $41.50, with higher rates for experienced nurses and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. Unit

Assess, plan, organize and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs. Promote adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of care, safety and satisfaction. Provide compassionate care and coordinate patient care with staff. Maintain patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
- Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
- Formulates, coordinates and provides plan of care including patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides direct patient care, including treatments, medications and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
- Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based on patient responses.
- Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel and other interdisciplinary team members and acts to proactively resolve patient needs.
- Problem solves, troubleshoots and takes corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment; participates in unit‑based decision‑making regarding evidence‑based practice.
- Actively participates as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals and is accountable for unit and system‑specific metrics.
- Engages in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.

GP2 is a 24‑bed advanced acute care unit that provides complex patient care for a wide variety of medical diagnoses requiring inpatient hospitalization. The unit requires telemetry and frequent observation. Patients include those with pneumonia, COPD, cardiac conditions, renal disorders, GI disorders, sepsis and postoperative patients. GP2 works closely with the emergency room and PACU departments and offers valuable experience for those interested in ER work or critical care nursing.
Schedule0.9 FTE (36 hours) – straight nights including every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.
Education and Qualifications- Graduate from Specialty Training Program – Nursing (Required).
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Licensed Practical Nurse license.
