** Department Summary*
* The York Cancer Center has a 28-chair Infusion Room that provides chemotherapy and infusion therapy services to outpatients of the York community and beyond. Our team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate care in a supportive and patient-centered environment. In this clinical role, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support patient care through both clinical and supportive responsibilities, including monitoring patient status, assisting with treatments, and promoting comfort and well-being throughout the infusion therapy process.
** General Summary*
* Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive care. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, patient/family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and supportive role to assist the patients and their families. May require specialized skills depending on location/unit/specialty assignment.

* Essential Functions:

* + Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
+ Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
+ Carries out physician orders such as administering prescribed medications or treatments, preparing an operating room, order lab tests, x-rays, etc...
+ Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
+ Assists provider during examinations, non-operative and operative procedures.
+ Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
+ Assists in patient care related activities such as changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs, starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.
+ Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
+ Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
+ Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.
+ Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description.
+ In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required.
- Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice: ◦ Emergency Care Center - ACLS, PALS ◦ Intensive Care Center & MSCC Lead - ACLS, PALS ◦ L&D - ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experience ◦ NICU - NRP ◦ PEDS - PALS ◦ PCC/PACU/ENDO - ACLS, PALS ◦ Procedural - ACLS
